Hi friends! I recently started working out with a personal trainer in Charlotte, @BodyByRo, and since then have gotten a lot of questions from you guys about my fitness routine, especially after sharing some swimsuit pictures from the Bahamas. To be honest, I’m probably in my worst shape I’ve been in years (both mentally and physically), because lately I’ve been over working myself and not making fitness a priority in my life. When I say that, I don’t mean by any means that I am overweight or unhealthy, I still believe I’m in a very healthy condition, but I’ve definitely been more fit and felt better about my physicality/endurance in the past. I’ve become complacent in my regular workouts and knew I was ready for a change, which is why I called on @BodyByRo to kick me back in to shape.

To give you some perspective on my current lifestyle, I’m working two jobs: a marketing job/business partner in an interior design company and acting as creator/editor of my blog. Both roles are huge time commitments in my life, and that doesn’t include having to be a present wife and take care of chores around the house as well as mom to our two frenchies. Most days I feel like I’m running around with my head cut off and you can usually expect me to be at least 15 minutes late to anywhere I’m asked to be. I have an ever growing to-do list and at the end of the day the last thing I want to do is jump on a treadmill or attend a fitness class.

Fitness had always been a part of my daily routine. I was a gymnast and competitive cheerleader growing up which kept me in shape as a teen, and in college I went on to be a college cheerleader. This kept me in shape through what would normally be the weight-gain era of life, and forced me to be in shape given those uniforms are inches tall (insert rolling eyes emoji). In college I practiced 3 days a week, had a game 1-2 days a week and did cardio and my own form of working out on the other days. This kept me in check and I continued to keep fitness a part of my lifestyle.

Fast-forward to today. Prior to working out with Ro, I was an avid attender of fitness classes. I had and still have a membership at Madabolic (an anaerobic gym in Charlotte – similar to crossfit but more body weight exercises) for 10 classes a month, and a membership with ClassPass, which allows you to attend a variety of classes locally. I used ClassPass for my favorite studios that I didn’t want to invest in full monthly memberships at such as my favorite yoga studio, Yoga One, my favorite pilates studio, Hilliard Studio Method, and my core work, HSM Core.

In a single week, I always had the goal of working out at least 5 times per week. That generally meant 2-3 Madabolic classes mixed in with a Hilliard, HSM Core, Yoga, or even my own form of cardio on the treadmill/elliptical. I’ve been doing this routine for a couple years now, and I wasn’t finding the motivation to get to workout classes. I always felt tired and I knew I needed something (someone) new to hold me accountable and keep me on routine. In comes, @BodyByRo.

I found Ro through my best friend, Vanessa (@TheCheekyBeen). She was working out with him to get in shape for her wedding. After seeing her photos and videos, I thought Ro was doing an amazing job, and I wanted to workout with him as well. He is pressuring me to add more cardio to my workout, and he’s great at targeting the ‘trouble areas’ all of us women struggle with (abs, below the bootie, etc.). Things a normal fitness class that is catered to everyone wouldn’t focus on.

Not to mention, Ro is great at being a life coach. I see a lot of value in just spending an hour talking to someone about life that can give you great advice. He helps you work through troubles mentally, and let’s you see things from a different perspective. Last but not least, I’m loving his meal service he offers. It’s for everyone, too, not just his clients so Charlotte girls I highly recommend! The meals taste really good and I feel confident knowing they’re healthy because they are coming from my own trainer.

Today, my fitness routine consists of 3 classes a week with Ro, and 3 other workouts of my choice whether it be Madabolic, Hilliard, HSM Core, or my own form of cardio. Ro keeps me accountable by asking me to send a photo of my completed treadmill workout, or proof I’m attending one of the workout classes I laid out. I love the accountability and I feel more motivated than ever to focus on my fitness and health. I’ve gotten a lot of questions about how to contact Ro to inquire about his services, and the best way is through text message. His number is located in the bio section of his Instagram: @BodyByRo.

I’ll be continuing to post workouts we are doing on my Instagram stories. You can always check out the ‘fitness’ highlight on my Instagram profile if you’d like to implement some of the workouts into your gym routine. It’s great for inspiration if you’re not ready to take the jump with a personal trainer. If you have any questions, or if I failed to answer any of your questions, you can always e-mail me, DM me on Instagram or leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to get back to you!
